The Cossatot cosmetology field trip for Wednesday has unfortunately been canceled. We hope to get it rescheduled, so keep an eye on your emails and Google Classroom for more information.

Domtar Relays on the schedule for Thursday, March 14 has been moved to Wednesday, March 13^th.

Softball game on the schedule for Friday at Arkadelphia has been moved to Wednesday at 4:30 at Arkadelphia

Also Baseball for Friday against Arkadelphia will be played at Majestic Park in Hot Springs at 5:00 on Friday.

Reminder - Mrs.Wedehase's 10th-grade advisory is conducting a canned food drive. Team A and Team B, no cans have been brought yet. You have until next Friday to turn in your cans. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, March 27th. Remember this is not only a competition but all canned food will be donated to local food pantries to help families in need.

Mrs.Wedehase's 10th grade advisory is conducting a can food drive between 9^th/10th lunch which will be (Team A) and the 11^th/12th grade lunch (Team B). The winning team will be allowed their phones during their lunch for two days, March 28th-29th. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, March 27th. All cans can be dropped off in the front office lobby beginning today through March 15. They need to label the cans A or B.

All juniors will take the state-required ACT test on Tuesday, February 27^th. Room rosters will be posted in the cafeteria that morning. All juniors should report to their testing rooms at 8:00 with a charged Chromebook.

This week’s Mental Health Moment is brought to you by the AHSOI Student Voice Team and SkillsUSA. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, if you think someone is thinking about suicide, assume you are the only one who will reach out. Here’s how to talk to someone who may be struggling with their mental health. Have an honest conversation:

Talk to them in private
Listen to their story
Tell them you care about them
Ask directly if they are thinking about suicide
Encourage them to talk to a trusted adult, doctor, or therapist. If there is imminent danger, call 911
Avoid debating the value of life, minimizing their problems, or giving advice.

Our SkillsUSA students and Student Voice Team have been working on their community service projects impacting the mental health of our student body. As part of their project, they would like to add a "Mental Health Moment" to the announcements each week:

Christmas Break will begin December 22. Students will return to classes on Monday, January 8^th.

Testing Days next week will be Monday, the 18^th, and Tuesday, the 19^th. Exemptions days will be Wednesday and Thursday. Any student missing a testing day either Monday or Tuesday will make up that day on Wednesday.

Seniors, the FAFSA application period will open on December 31st. Be sure to have your parents/guardians create an FSA ID like we set up in Ms. Mulholland's classes in September. See Mrs. Metzger's post on Google Classroom for more information.

The Ashdown High School of Innovation Theatre Department will be performing Disney’s Aladdin. Community performances will be held this Saturday, December 9^th at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 10^th, and 2:00 p.m. Admission will be $5

Ashdown FFA will host a Dinner and Auction tonight in the High School Cafeteria at 5:30. Auction will begin at 7:00 p.m.

There will be a Beta Club meeting today during advisory periods. This meeting is mandatory for the New Beta Club Members who were inducted in November of this year.

The last Accuplacer Exam given at the high school this semester will be on December 12th @ 9 a.m. in the Library. Be sure to sign up with Mrs. Metzger before Dec. 8th if you are trying to be eligible for College Credit Courses or for Seniors wanting to receive the Arkansas Challenge Scholarship who haven't made a 19 on the ACT.

The Ashdown High School of Innovation Theatre Department will be performing Disney’s Aladdin. Community performances will be held December 9^th at 6:00 p.m. and December 10^th and 2:00 p.m. Admission will be $5 and tickets can be purchased at the door.

The Flu clinic will be held on October 9^th.

From Mrs.Metzger, Seniors, don't forget that tomorrow we will be creating your FSA IDs (this is used for applying for financial aid starting in Dec., possibly January) in Mrs. Mulholland's classroom during 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th periods. If you have her for English, that is the period you will set yours up in. If you do not have her, check your email and Google Classroom for what period I set you up to be in her classroom for it.
