Ashdown School District
Child Nutrition Letter & FAQ
First, I would like to welcome you to the Ashdown School District Child Nutrition Program. The Child Nutrition Staff at each campus works hard daily to ensure that all students are offered a nutritious variety of foods that meet the federal nutrition standards and encourage students to try new foods to develop their tastes for a lifetime of healthy eating.
How do I complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application?
You only need to complete one application per family. List all children and adults in the household on the one application.
You can also complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application using the paper format as well. Submit to your child’s campus or to the Child Nutrition Department. All forms can be viewed from the school website at ashdownschools.org under the cafeteria/menu section.
Free and Reduced Meal Applications can be completed at any time during the school year. Applications can be resubmitted throughout the year.
A letter of determination of meal status (full pay, free, or reduced) will be sent to the home address on file at the school district within 10 days of processing the application.
How do I make a payment for my child’s meals?
You can pay for meals in person by sending money with your child to the cafeteria. You can send the money in a sealed envelope with the child’s full name and grade to the cafeteria to be added to their account. Pre-payment is encouraged anytime and especially with the COVID-19 virus.
Parents can manage their child’s meal account by going to https://family.titank12.com/?identifier=VUT38A&lang=English. Set up the account by using the child’s 4 digit lunch account number. You can access your child’s meal account at https://family.titank12.com/?identifier=VUT38A&lang=English to do the following:
- View account activity.
- Add money to your child’s account.
- Split account balances between siblings.
- Account reminders can be sent to your email address.
Does your child have a food allergy or intolerance?
Be sure to let the school nurse at your child’s campus know about any food allergies or intolerances to foods. Documentation from the child’s doctor is needed. Please update these forms each year and send them to the school nurse.
