Bands Prepare for Spring Concert
The Ashdown School District’s band program will present its Spring Concert for all school bands on Sunday, April 26, at 2:00 in the high school auditorium.
Under the direction of band directors Mark Pounds and David Stuart, the sixth grade band will begin the afternoon’s performances, followed immediately by the 7th/8th grade band, then a small percussion ensemble, and finally the AHS Purple Pride Concert Band.
In addition, an exhibit of art by high school students can be enjoyed in the lobby.
Admission is free, and everyone is encouraged to attend.
Junior High Band Enjoys Guest Conductor
The Ashdown Junior High 7th and 8th grade band students were privileged to work under the direction of a guest conductor on Thursday, April 16. David Stuart, Sr., Director of Bands for Magnolia School System, spent the afternoon helping the students prepare for their Spring Concert to be performed on April 26 at 2:00 in the AHS auditorium.
Stuart, who is also the father of AJHS band director David Stuart, Jr., complimented the 72-member junior high band on their discipline and commitment to excellence. As Magnolia’s Director of Bands for 10 years, Stuart often conducts clinics for junior high bands, simulating full band contests.
The Spring Band Concert on Sunday, April 26, beginning at 2:00, will include 6th grade band, 7th/8th grade band, a small percussion ensemble, and the AHS band. The art department will also exhibit student work in the lobby.
