Daily Memo

October 19, 2018

All 11th and 12th graders will be attending the College/Career Fair on Thursday, October 25th from 8:00 until 10:45.  You will need a permission slip to load the bus that morning.  Permission slips will be available in Ms. Murry's, Mr. Hopkins', Ms. Dickson's and Ms. Cromer's classrooms as well as the counselor's office.  Be sure you pick up a permission slip and bring it with you Thursday morning.

All 9th and 10th graders will be taking the Interim Math and Science exams on Thursday morning, October 25th starting at 8:00.  Testing will be in the 300 Hallway.  Testing Rosters will be posted in the 300 Hallway and the Cafeteria.  Be sure you know where you are to report at 8:00 that morning.

Panthers will host the Arkadelphia Badgers tonight.  Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.  Come out and support your Panthers.

Report cards will go out today.

All students taking the ACT next Saturday morning, October 27th, will need to report to the cafeteria no later than 7:50 A.M.  Bring your Admission Ticket, Driver's License, Calculator, and #2 pencils.  If you do not have a driver's license or state issued ID you must see Ms. Fleming no later than Thursday, October 25th so she can make you an ACT ID Letter for you to use in place of a driver's license for ID purposes.

Pantherettes will begin play in the District tournament today in Little Rock.  Good Luck Pantherettes.  We will dismiss the players when we find out the time.

The counselor's office has information on this year's American Legion High School Oratorical Contest.  Any student interested in more information on this scholarship contest needs to go by the counselor's office.

Ashdown High School Flu Clinic will be held October 09 starting at 9:00AM.  Please notice date change.

The first blood drive of the year will be held in the library on Wednesday, October 3.  You must be at least 16 to donate blood and must have signed parent permission unless you are 17 or older.  Blood donors will be eligible for a college scholarship.  You may go by the library to sign up.

20th Annual Miss Land O Lights pageant will be held November 3, 2018 at the Ashdown High School Auditorium at 3:00 p.m.  Entry forms are available in the high school office.  All Entry forms with money are due to the Chamber Office by October 19th.

Because there was a facility conflict, FBLA District has been rescheduled to November 1st.  Therefore I have reopened registration.  If you missed joining FBLA, you can still join this week.  See Mrs. Tipton.

There will be a Beta Club meeting today in Mr. Hopkins’ room during the lunch periods.

Serenity Cafe would like to announce our new managers for the 2018-2019 school year. They are Caillou Quintal, Breanna Parker and Sydney Hurd. Be sure to try our drinks! This class has caught on to Barista methods very quickly!

Cailou Quintal is the employee of the month for AHS Serenity Café.  He goes above and beyond to make sure the Shop is taken care of.  He will get a lunch of his choice from Mrs. Tipton.

We will have multiple games for students to participate in.  Including a dance off and a Mr. & Miss Spirit Stick contest.  The loudest class will have a candy toss!!  Come join us in the fun!!

Ashdown Pom Squad 1st Annual Lil Panthers Dance Camp date has changed.  It will be Saturday, September 29th.  Deadline to pay is the 24th.  Dancers will perform at the Nashville game.

Have you been looking for a great book? Mrs. Silva's book club is excited to announce it's first book title, "The False Prince" by Jennifer A. Neilson. In this book, an orphan is forced into a twisted game with deadly stakes. The book club meets in the library every Tuesday during both lunches. Come join in the fun! If you need help purchasing this book to join in, come by Mrs. Silva's room for more information.

Any Beta Club Member that was an active participant last school year is eligible to run for an officer position.  If you are interested in being a Beta Club officer, see Mr. Hopkins today.

During Advisory today we will meet in grade levels for Grade Level sponsors, class officers and Student Council elected representatives to explain each Class’ role in Homecoming Week activities.  All Class sponsors need to know what group you are to go with.  Freshman will meet in the cafeteria, sophomores will meet in the Game gym, Juniors will meet in the PE gym and Seniors will meet in the Library.

PEP RALLY today!!!The battle for the spirit stick is on!  In order for your class to win the spirit stick, you must actively participate the entire time.  When it is time for class competition, chant with the cheerleaders!  Pep rally will begin at 3:05.

National Honor Society will begin selling Parking Passes as soon as the passes come in.  We will let you know as soon as that happens. 

Fall Pictures will be taken Wednesday, August 22 in the high school auditorium.  Flyers will go out today in your English classes.

If you purchased a yearbook and have not picked it up yet, please see Julie Sheppard in room 400 (old band hall)

FBLA will begin the membership drive this week. Pick up information from Mrs. Tipton starting Tuesday. The Fall Conference is Wednesday, October 10th at UACCH. AHS SERENITY CAFE is currently training new baristas. We will announce our opening date later this week. Watch for new drinks! We are working on a new menu!
