Thanks to all of you who participated in the recent staff survey your principal has the results and will be glad to share or copy that for you. A Big thanks to all of the staff and students who participated in the city wide clean up day on Saturday.

 

 

 

Ashdown High School Beta Club hosted a Mock Birthday Party for Arkansas Children’s Hospital on Friday.  The party was held in the library and gifts for teenage patients were collected to be sent to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Decorations for the event were provided by Wal-Mart and Will Harris, Chelsie Ellis and Jasmine Allen worked to create the party atmosphere.  The refreshments and a cake to serve 100 were donated by Brookshire’s and ice was provided by Sonic.  The party was recorded on video and will be sent to the hospital for teen patients to see.

AHS Student Council sponsored its Spring Blood Drive on Tuesday, March 27. 

 

Congratulations to the 7th grade class at Ashdown Junior High for winning the 1st Campbell’s Soup Labels and Box tops for Education contest.  They had 315, 8th grade had 274, and 9th grade had 229.  Sondra Cauthron reported, “We had a grand total of 818 turned in and we are beginning a new contest today; please continue to bring your box tops and soup labels.” Turn the labels in to your designated teacher; 7th grade Mr. Leathers, 8th grade Mrs. Barger, and 9th grade Coach Barger or Mrs. Edmisten.  Mrs. Johnson said, “Thank you for your participation, and let’s collect more this nine weeks than we did in the last nine weeks.”

Caitlin Smith was the overall 9th thru 12th grade winner and she won a scholarship and $250.  She is the daughter of Mark and Denise Smith.           She competed in the 9th thru 12th grade division and 1st place winners won a 1 semester scholarship to SAU and all winners won money.

Congratulations to Sierra Karambellas for placing 3rd in the DeQueen-Mena regional science fair.

 

 Judy Dowdy has announced that the new slogan for the Ashdown School District is

"Building Bridges to Success for children."  You can see it used in the ad for the the Main Street Texarkana Magazine.

 

 

Former Ashdown Student Wins Award—The Ashdown School District has many graduates who go on to make a name for themselves at college and in the workplace.  This week we want to recognize Dustyn Priest , son of Lori Thrash (Special Services), who is the sports editor for the Texarkana College newspaper.  Dustyn won the top photographic award selected by the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association.

 

 

Text Box: Alton Cressell, signed a letter of intent to play football for Fort Scott Community College, a two-year school at Fort Scott, Kansas.  Cressell played running back for the Panthers in 2005 and had a “great year” possibly setting a school record for the number of touchdowns scored by a single player in a given season.
