Ashdown TARGETS hosted a week long Invitational Quiz Bowl Tournament at

CCCUA. Over forty five teams from Southwest Arkansas attended the competition.

Ashdown’s seventh grade Quiz Bowl team won first place in the Seventh Grade

Tournament. Their coach is Nicole Pearson.

Jr. High Team

The Ashdown TARGETS Jr. High Quiz Bowl team won second place at the Ashdown

Invitational Tournament. Their coach is Donica Barger.

The Ashdown TARGETS Fourth grade Quiz Bowl team won fourth place at the

Ashdown Invitational Tournament. These students competed against other fourth graders

from Southwest Arkansas. Their coach is Vi Winters who is assisted by Teresa Wake.

 

The Ashdown High School Student Council is once again sponsoring a drive to provide

gifts for needy children this Christmas. The Christmas Angels (35 children in all) are on

the Christmas tree in the front foyer of the main building for first period classes to choose

their angel. Unwrapped gifts must be turned in to Mrs. Henderson’s room no later than

Thursday, Dec. 14. Every Christmas Angel on our tree is a child from Ashdown School

District. Please help put smiles on their faces and joy in their hearts this Christmas.

Alumni News...See the story in the Little River News of a former Ashdown teacher,

Suzanne Shelley, who was crowned Ms. Senior America in Las Vegas. Suzanne taught

English at Ashdown High School during the 1970’s and is fondly remembered by many

students. Her husband, Ken, was manager of industrial relations at Nekoosa Papers.

The Tasseltime web site for students, parents and teachers has had a new resource

added to it for counselors. Login with your COUNSELOR username and password (not

your school username and password). Select the link "MEMBER SCHOOL

COUNSELORS CLICK HERE" First you will find a "Counselor Newsletter" that will

give you updates on the resources added to Tasseltime. Look at the section Titled:

Counselor How to Help--- Tasseltimenewslettercounsvol1.pdf. Also, in this Counselor:

How to Help section you will find a Tasseltime Member School Counselors- Presentation

document --- in case you or another counselor in your district is needing a refresher on

navigating within Tasseltime. Second- you will find a Tasseltime Newsletter for

November/December that you can download and change as needed- to help them

REMEMBER to work on admissions and scholarship applications. Look under the

section Templates: Tasseltime Newsletter Nov/Dec. This is a document, so once you

download it, you can change anything you need. In the section just above the Templates

is a "How to Movie" section that has a movie you can watch if you need some help

editing/creating newsletter. Also, once you login with your SCHOOL USERNAME and

PASSWORD- you will notice that there is a specific login-counter for your school's use.

This will keep you current with statistical information for Your School or District. The

site can be found on the opening district web page.

 

The Ashdown High School Choir will be sponsoring a Talent Show for ages 13-19on

December 14th. Dancers, singers, impersonators, comedians, bands and other talents are

needed. There will be Cash Prizes for 1st thru 3rd place.

The Ashdown Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma,

International Teacher Sorority, initiated seven new members

on Nov. 13 at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

President, Carolyn Castleman presided over the ceremony as

Glenda Carr, Judy Lowery, Katrina Williamson, Margaret

Daniel, Helen Parker, Shirley Rayfield, and Carolyn Thrash

were welcomed into the organization.

 

The Board and Administrative Christmas Party will be held on Dec. 15, 6:30 at the

Ole Feed House in Texarkana.

 

The Families in Transition Program was able to provide coats to 49 children in the

school district. Thanks to those who donated coats and to Holiday Cleaners in Texarkana

for cleaning the coats. More coats are still available. Let Kim Befeld know if you know
