Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are pleased to have your child at L.F. Henderson Intermediate School. We look forward to the opportunity to get to know you and your child better during the school year. Positive parent involvement is essential to the success of our school. We encourage you to take an active role in your child’s education by attending parent/teacher conferences, award assemblies, parent nights, and various other school functions. You are also welcome to come eat lunch with your child. If you have internet, please encourage your child to work on Study Island (www.studyisland.com), a computer based program that helps students with reading and math. Your child has been assigned a password and user name for this program. Another way you can help your child is by encouraging him/her to read at home. Reading is very important for the development of your child. Students who read more tend to score higher on standardized tests and are better prepared for the future. We use Accelerated Reader, a computer based reading program, to motivate students to read more books. After students read a book, they take a test over the book to earn AR points. Awards are given to students based on the number of AR points they earn individually and as a class.
Thanks to the sincere dedication of faculty, students, parents, and community, our school is ranked as one of the best in the state. Your positive involvement is a vital part of our success. We appreciate your support and together we can build a strong foundation for your child to be successful in life!
Sincerely,
Keith Fricks, Principal
